Jess Graham is a Canadian artist and writer based in Tiny Beaches, Ontario. With a professional background in business and entrepreneurship, Jess was an integral part of her family’s business from 2009 to 2024. Although her formal education is rooted in business, her lifelong dedication to artistic exploration and creative practice has led her to pursue a full-time career in the arts.

Deeply inspired by the natural world and a strong advocate for environmental awareness, Jess’s work reflects a deep connection to the outdoors and a reverence for everyday beauty. Her multidisciplinary practice incorporates both visual and written mediums, often centering themes of memory, wonder, and the quiet magic found in daily life.

Creative expression has been a constant thread throughout her life. From an early age, Jess has experimented with a variety of artistic forms, developing a unique voice that blends personal storytelling with a sense of universal connection. Her current work is driven by a desire to create meaningful, uplifting experiences that encourage viewers to slow down and see themselves and the world around them, with greater appreciation.

Jess continues to develop her practice through ongoing exploration, commissions, and series-based projects that speak to both individual narratives and collective emotion.

Artist Statement

I know first had that reading the right combination of words or seeing a certain combination of colours and visuals, can turn your mind around, make you feel seen and spark something new in you.

I hope to, in so many ways, create that for people and see where it leads us.

The Process

My artistic practice is rooted in curiosity, observation, and a deep reverence for the natural world. I move through life with a childlike lens, continually drawn to the beauty, complexity, and interconnectedness found in both nature and everyday existence. Through independent study of ecology, psychology, and sociology, I explore questions surrounding how western society has become increasingly disconnected from natural rhythms, and what it might mean to rebuild our lives in greater relationship with the ecosystems and creatures we share this world with.

Much of my work stems from a personal feeling of disconnection from many of the values prioritized within western society,  particularly ideas of productivity, consumption, and success that often come at the expense of community, wellbeing, and the natural world. In response, I approach both my life and artistic practice with curiosity, seeking to create more intentional ways of living and working that are rooted in the values I hold most deeply: presence, interconnectedness, care, creativity, and ecological reciprocity.

Research and stillness are central to my process. I spend significant time outdoors observing subtle environmental changes, witnessing patterns of co-existence, and paying attention to the quiet relationships unfolding constantly around us. Reading, reflection, and immersion in nature inform the conceptual foundation of my work, allowing ideas to emerge slowly through lived experience and attentive observation.

From this process, I create artwork intended to spark conversation, contemplation, and reconnection. My work invites viewers to notice the often-overlooked details of the environments they inhabit and to consider their own relationship with the natural world. By sharing moments of stillness, co-habitation, and interdependence, I hope to encourage a deeper sense of care, responsibility, and devotion toward the environment,  not as something separate from ourselves, but as something essential to our collective wellbeing and survival.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that reconnection to nature is not only ecological, but deeply human. Through art, I aim to foster wonder, curiosity, and a renewed sense of belonging within the living world.
